Cleaning the Roller Arm Assembly
Rinsing the Roller Arm
1. Fill your bucket with warm water and soap
if you used latex paint. Fill your bucket
with mineral spirits if you used an oil-
based paint designed to be cleaned up
with mineral spirits.
2. Remove the spatter shield from the roller
assembly if it is installed.
3. Press the locking tab and let the roller
drop off the roller arm and into the bucket.
4. Unscrew the roller core from the end cap
and slide the roller cover off. Place the
roller core and cover into the bucket.
If you place a rag over the roller cover,
then grip the end of the roller core and
twist, you can cleanly and easily remove
the roller core. Once the core is free of
the cap, tap the core on a table or the
palm of your hand to knock the roller cap
loose and remove it from the cover.
5. Make certain the switch on the main tube
is set to FILL, and then submerge the end
of the roller arm in the bucket.
6. Pull the plunger back to draw cleaning
solution into the main tube and push it
forward to circulate the cleaning solution
through the tube. Do several times until
the main tube looks clean.
7. Remove the seal from the end of the roller
arm. Note the direction of the lip for
correct replacement. Clean thoroughly.
8. Rinse the roller core and cover thoroughly
in the cleaning solution and remove from
the bucket to dry.
Rinsing the Fill Valve Assembly
The fill valve assembly uses a ball and check
valve system for proper filling of the main tube.
It is very important to clean this area thoroughly
to ensure the best performance from the Paint
Mate
®
.
1. Unthread the locking collar around the fill
valve and remove the rubber seal, ball,
seat, spring, and retainer disk.
2. Rinse the items thoroughly in the cleaning
solution until all paint is removed and then
allow them to dry.
Rinsing the Fill Tube and Can lid
1. Remove the can lid and tube from the
paint container and let excess paint drain
back into the container.
2. Rinse the lid and tube in the bucket of
cleaning solution until all paint is removed
and then allow them to dry.
Storing the Paint Mate
®
1. Remove the plunger from the main tube by
turning the locking collar next to the trigger
counter-clockwise until the main tube
easily slides off the plunger.
2. Pack a generous amount of petroleum jelly
thoroughly around and between the O-
rings on the plunger.
NOTE: If you are using latex paint, parts
may be rinsed in a sink using
warm water and a mild liquid
soap.
